NASA 'meatball' logo

Mr Modarelli's design for NASA logo in 1959 took the form of a humble 'meatball'. The blue sphere represents a planet, the stars represent space, the red chevron is a wing representing aeronautics, and there is also an orbiting spacecraft going around the wing representing US pioneering spirit.
